Hello I’m Sonja, the owner and manager of Dogknows Central South London.

 Our number one priority is the happiness and wellbeing of your dog and my ongoing dedication to dogs and their welfare is at the core of our Dogknows business.
 
When I was six my Mum sadly lost her eyesight and over the years, I grew up alongside her three guide dogs, all of which I adored implicitly but I had fallen in love with dogs even earlier, when our family pet dog ‘Brock’ had three puppies. I still remember clearly how warm and exited I felt as my Dad carefully handed me each one in turn to hold – so precious and so adorable.
 
Early in 2018, after the very sad and sudden loss of my dear Mum, I realised how short life can be and it was time to change my own life for the better. I had previously worked in the city as a PA in marketing & events for over 20 years but what I really wanted was to fulfil my ultimate dream of spending my days working with dogs.
 
2019 arrived and away went the handbags and shoes and in came the waterproofs, walking boots and 100’s of poo bags. I was Dogknows Central South London.

Walking dogs daily has taught me more than I ever knew about our amazing canine companions, and I have lived and breathed dogs almost every day since. I have taken teachings from one of the UK’s leading canine body language specialists and dog trainers Sarah Whitehead which have been invaluable. I am a member of Kathy Kawalecs Dancing Hearts Dog Academy whom I have so much admiration for having guided me to build an amazing partnership with my own two-year-old Border Collie Sorrell. I have read some of the best books ever written for a dog enthusiast by authors Alexandra Horowitz, John Fisher, Turid Rugaas as well as Sarah Whitehead. I have become almost obsessed with canine nutrition and have helped some of my clients overcome some common health issues with their own dog in a very natural and holistic way.
 
In 2022 I made the decision to fulfil another dream and moved to the Highlands of Scotland. Although I was extremely sad to leave behind my dog walking days in London, I am very proud and lucky to have my two loyal and dedicated walkers Karen and Stu flying the flag for us covering areas of Central South East London. We have been a very strong team for the past 4 years and we continue to be so today albeit with a few hundred miles between us.
